A few things I’ve been working on this week:

I finished a giant piece for an upcoming art show. I’ll be taking it to the gallery I work with and will have prints available in various sizes soon. The show is at the end of June.

Playing in my art journal. This is the practice that most often gets cast aside during busy times, so I’m really trying to focus on spending a few minutes drawing, painting, lettering or making marks every day.

Making progress on stitching my Aspens sample. A new kit/ pattern will be available for this design next month!

I have recently fallen head-over-heels for English Paper Piecing. I’m currently working on a large trivet to go in the center of our kitchen table (the cheerful flower design above). I am certain I’ll be doing more of this soon.

What have you been making lately?

Around Here

Reading:

I thoroughly enjoyed Kate and Frida by Kim Fay. It is a story of friendship, books and food set in the 90s. Heavy on the nostalgia, very delightful all around.

I also finished North Woods by Daniel Mason this week and I can absolutely understand why everyone was talking about it last year. It’s wonderfully written and like nothing I’ve ever read before. Set in one plot of land over hundreds of years, this fascination story takes us through generations and brings everything together so well in the end. Such an enjoyable ride.

Watching:

We loved the short documentary called The Quilters on Netflix. It’s only 30 minutes long and such a beautiful story about inmates making quilts for foster kids.

Dabbling in:

I started a new knitting project and an English Paper Piecing project this week. I’m trying to have a few things going that are just for enjoyment and not for my work. It’s been lovely to have something to pick up in the evenings just for fun.

In the House/Yard:

It’s finally (hopefully) past the last frost date so our garden is going in this weekend!
