2019 Come Follow Me Free Study Journal

Free 2019 Church of Latter-Day Saints Come Follow Me Curriculum journal for families.

I am so looking forward to the new 2019 curriculum for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!  I've had the the chance to spend time looking over it over the past few months (planning ahead for some exciting posts on the blog next year!) and I am certain that it is inspired.

I am excited to share with you today a free resource that I created to go along with the Come Follow Me for Individuals and Families study guide.  It's a journal to use as a family as you work your way through the curriculum.

There is a page for each week in the New Testament Come Follow Me Curriculum for Individuals and Families.  Each page lists the reading assignment and the title of the lesson.  Check off the assigned reading as you complete it.  And if you have a restless little person, they can color in the title of the lesson while you read aloud.

Each week features four boxes: Truths, Questions, Impressions and Goals.  As your family studies the lessons, take a moment or two to write or draw in each of them and throughout the year you'll have a record of the things you learned and studied and the goals you set.

Ideas for Implementing the Journal:

This journal can be used in multiple ways, really in any way that works for you and your family.  Here are some ideas for how to use each of the sections.

TRUTHS:

  • As you're studying, pause after each verse/section to ask what truths were shared.
  • Take a moment to discuss truths you read at the end of each study session
QUESTIONS:
  • Questions will naturally arise as you earnestly study the lessons, whether from your kids or yourself.  Write down the questions as they come up, so you can remember to study them in depth (if needed) and answer them later.
  • Use the questions that arise as a basis for further gospel discussions, Family Home Evening lessons, etc.
IMPRESSIONS:
  • This is a place to record the thoughts and promptings you receive as you study.
  • Impressions could be directly related to the studying you're doing, or have to do with something else entirely.
  • Write down any promptings you receive (a neighbor who needs a visit, a friend to call, a way to help your struggling child, a verse you want to study in depth) so you can be sure to come back to them later.
  • Follow through on promptings!  It's easy to brush them aside, but as Camilla Kimball said,"Never suppress a generous thought."
GOALS:
  • This box is intentionally small to allow us to focus on only one or two goals each week.  At the beginning of the week it's easy to be highly motivated and think "This is the week I will do all the things and help all the people!". But then real life and additional responsibilities kick in, that enthusiasm is lost and we give up entirely.
  • Small, simple, measurable goals are the most effective way to make lasting change.
  • Pick one or two goals for the week: people to serve, a house project, a fun family outing, whatever your family feels impressed to work on.
  • Cross off the goal when you have completed it!

This journal is intentionally simple; it is designed to allow you to direct the learning in your home.  You can tailor the discussions toward the ages of your children and their level of understanding.  I hope that it is of benefit to you!

I printed off the journal and used our binder to spiral bind it. You could put it in a 3 ring binder, as well. I chose not to do two sided printing, knowing that our little ones will probably need extra space to doodle/color.  But the journal is set up so you can print it on front/back.

As you can imagine, this journal took quite a while to create.  I am happy to be able to share it with you for free.  If you are able, please make a small donation so that I am able to continue create resources like this.

How To DOWNLOAD:

Click ADD TO CART below.

This is a zip file (it contains both the journal and a cover) and most likely will not open successfully on your phone.  Please open it on a desktop/laptop.

How to donate:

When you click on ADD TO CART it will bring up a box that says "Your Shopping Cart".  The price is automatically set to $0 (it is highlighted in yellow), you can click on that highlighted box and change it to be however much you'd like to donate.  Then click "Checkout" and you're all set.

PLEASE NOTE: Friends, this is a FREE resource. I will not be able to customize colors or fonts, make the document editable, make changes, or alter it in any way.
