Our Iowa Adventure and New Plans for This Space.

Oh, friends, I’ve missed you!  This was my first significant blogging break ever, and while I’m so glad I took some time away, I’m also so very happy to be back.

This past month has been one of many adventures for us.  I joined my parents and siblings and their families for a cross-country roadtrip to visit my dad’s hometown: Spencer, Iowa.  My sister and I drove together with our collective six children. Both of our husbands needed to stay home for work, and it was so nice to travel with another adult.  I would not have wanted to do that drive by myself!

This trip came together out of a desire to see my Grandparents.  They are growing older and their health is not what it once was.  My Grandpa in particular has had a very difficult time the past few years.  We spent as much time with them as space (17 of us on the trip!) ,time and their energy levels would allow.  Our days were filled with visiting family, trips to Lake Okoboji, cousin time and sightseeing around my Dad’s old stomping grounds.

Aside from a really rough day involving a broken down car in South Dakota on the way home, the trip was picture-perfect. We were smitten with the beauty of Iowa.  Lush, green fields and farms new and old as far as the eye could see.  The sky seemed immense without the mountains we’re so used to to block the horizon.

I also had time to reflect on my goals for this blog, and I’m excited to put some new plans into place.
My interests are shifting and you’ll probably see that reflected in the posts going forward.  I’ve been on a journey to rediscover my love for art and for creating art daily and I want to share that with you.  I plan to share a monthly peek into my sketchbook and talk more openly about how I find time to create and what things I’m choosing to let go in order to make that happen.  I want to share more of our homeschool, outdoorsy lifestyle with you as well as get back to the from-the-heart posts that I love writing so much.

I am going to scale back my posting schedule in order to provide you with higher quality posts and so that I can dedicate more time to the creative projects I am pursuing.  I plan to post two times per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and continue to share my 52 Project posts on Sundays.  I may drop in more frequently sometimes, but that’s the plan for now.

I’d also love to hear from you.  What would you like to see more of in this space?
