So, apparently in all of our failed adoption turmoil, I completely forgot about the goal I set for the month of July.  I'll try to make it up to myself by catching up a bit today.

{hiking to "The G".}
 In my hometown there is a giant letter G on the mountainside.
Some may say it is the ultimate in graffiti, but we hiked there anyway.
Miss Ellie felt super strong for making it all the way.  It's a pretty steep hike for kiddos.

{Wind Caves trail}

As we were hiking along the trail, Ethan and I heard a rustling in the bushes.  We waited quietly to see what we could see, but no critters emerged.  After a few minutes of continuous rustling Ethan started to walk into the bushes to find the animal.  He paused, turned around and said, "Mom, what is making that noise?"  I replied, "I'm not sure, but it sounds pretty small.  Probably a chipmunk or something." He said, "Oh...or maybe a badger...they are the FIERCEST!"  After pondering on the fierceness of badgers, he decided not to risk going into the bushes.  But, he did ask me to take the above picture of his "fiercest face".  Not sure where the sudden obsession with fierceness came from.  But I find it adorable.

Waiting for the 24th of July (the birthday of our great state) fireworks
at a little pond in one of our favorite parks.

I'm realizing how much time we've spent on hikes and outdoors this past week (more than usual, even).  Finding solice in our beautiful surroundings, no doubt.  It's been a hard week, but we are healing and finding our groove again and discovering more hope to help us through the journey ahead.

Life is good.
