As we rushed out the door one recent morning, we were surprised by the blue sky.
Not just a patch of blue peeking through the inversion like we've been used to the past few weeks.
But a full, deep, nearly-cloudless beautiful blue sky.

We paused for a moment, amidst the bustling, buckling, and bickering and soaked up the beauty.
It took a couple of minutes before we saw the other difference on our familiar street: ice coating the bare trees.
This may be a common occurrence elsewhere, but for us it was a beautiful surprise.

We were mesmerized for a moment by the tiny ice crystals.
Then, with hearts uplifted, we continued on our way.

The color of springtime is in the flowers,

the color of winter is in the imagination.
