Pioneer Village

On Friday we went to the Fanshawe Pioneer Village in London. It was by far our favorite of the outings the kids and I have been on without Jason. They have relocated over 30 historic buildings to one conservation area and have the buildings open to explore.

Ellie in the tiny school house.

I love this picture! Ellie was peeking into one of the buildings that was closed and Ethan was copying her. His eyes are completely covered so he couldn't see in even if he was tall enough, but I just love to see how much he adores his sister.

They also had a few animals. Ethan would have watched these sheep all day. He kept calling, "Baaa!" through the fence and they'd baaa back. At one point we had this conversation:

Ethan: Mama...
Me: What? (Thinking we were doing the same thing we do multiple times a day. He'll say "Mama?" and not have anything else to say when I say, "What?". It's like he's just checking to make sure I know he's there)
Ethan: Mama...
Me: Yes, Ethan?
Ethan: Mama...Baby (pointing at the sheep).

We played checkers and ate candy sticks at the general store.

Ellie got to help work a printing press. She was thrilled! The printer kept referring to Ethan as her big brother which she thought was hilarious and corrected him every time.

We met a blacksmith and saw homes from the early 1800s all the way to 1920. I was so impressed with the employees, as well. They were dressed in period costumes and had a genuine excitement about sharing information. Such a fun day!

Ellie is not a fan of this as our new Time Out spot. I asked.
