Mud Pies

Normally the garden boxes on the lower part of our backyard are full of peas, carrots, potatoes and onions already by this time of year. But since we'll be spending most of our summer in Ontario, Canada (yipee!!), we are foregoing the garden this year. I'll miss it, but the kids don't seem to mind. They put those glorious dirt-filled boxes to good use today.

At first Ellie said she was making "mush". But after calling for several different ingredients -- I heard "I need more oregano!" at least 4 times, as well as one cry for "parsnips!" (oregano was grass and parsnips gravel as far as I could tell) -- it turned into pie.

"Mmmm!" Ethan says.

Little One had zero interest in playing in the mud. She'd much rather be inside with me folding laundry. I'll take that, she did a great job!

This was also a fun activity for us today. It kept all three kids busy for over an hour. An HOUR!

And our dining room windows are now covered with lovely bright decorations.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some mud-stains to work on...

  1. I'm so glad to read you're going to Canada! That will be much easier on your little family. :) Let me know if there is anything we can help you with in your preparations.

Ellie, is by far one of the cleverest girls I've ever read about! "More oregano" too funny!

    Good luck with those stains!
