Cutie's Surgery

Cutie had surgery to put tubes in his ears on Monday. It was done at Primary Children's Hospital and as always we were extremely impressed with the doctors, nurses and other staff members there. Cutie had a great time playing with toys while we waited for his turn.

He was pretty tired since we needed to be at the hospital at 6 am. As Ellie put it, "I had to get up at Four-Five-Five (4:55)!" Ellie and Peanut were able to go to Jason's parents house for the morning which made the day MUCH easier. (Thanks, Mom and Dad!).
He's gotten really attached to his blanket lately, which I think is darling.

After a few complications with paperwork, etc. we were given the go-ahead for the surgery. We went to another waiting room and Cutie was given some Versed and got a little loopy. Jason and I were laughing quite a bit during this time. I probably shouldn't think that loopy babies are funny, but I definitely do. Just look at this face:

Notice the drool.

He thought things were pretty funny, too.

Everything went well, and there is virtually no down time after this type of procedure. He was pretty irritable after the surgery, however. Mostly because he hadn't eaten in 16 hours, we think. (I was a little worried that the nurse gave him his juice in a bottle, considering how attached he was to bottles. He didn't seem to have any problems or mind when we switched to the sippy cup in the car.)

Once we got some food in him, he was back to his old self.

  1. I'm glad the surgery went well. Ally had tubes and it is so nice that it's not days in the hospital. It's good that he's not walking yet. Ally started walking the week before she got tubes and then she couldn't walk after the tubes for a day or so. Her balance was so out of wack now that her ears were clear.

That museum looks so fun. I'll have to try that one of these days.
