Latter-Day Saint Primary Music Flipcharts (and a Musical Pipes giveaway!)

I'm so happy to be back with another set of Latter-Day Saint Primary Music Flipcharts for you today!

Flipcharts are a fantastic tool to help kids learn song lyrics. And there are a lot of great options out there, but color printing can be expensive, so I've been creating these black and white flipcharts that you can color yourself.   And a lot of times lately, I don't even color them and they still work just as well.  Find the whole list of flipcharts I've completed here.

This A Lively Hope Flipchart collection includes the following songs:

Baptism
I Lived in Heaven
I Stand All Amazed
Before I Take the Sacrament
Books of the Old Testament
Books of the New Testament
Books of the Book of Mormon

I still use the Books of the Old/New Testament songs that I learned as a kid to help me find scripture references, so I have been trying to teach those songs to our Primary.  I only sing those songs with Senior Primary, we run through the song quickly with the flipchart and/or kids following along in the table of contents of their scriptures.  I do that at the very beginning of singing time, in place of the "wiggle songs" that we do in Junior Primary.

Using Pipe Chimes for Primary Music

Have you ever used chimes in your Primary singing time?  Jay at Musical Pipes sent me a set of chimes to try out and the Primary music book.  The kids and I had such a blast!  I'd call up one child per chime needed (with the music books from Musical Pipes it's very easy to see at a glance what numbers are needed).  I'd point to the number when it was time to play and the kids followed along.  It was definitely easier for the older kids to understand when to play, and Senior primary sounded much more musical than Junior primary did.  But the little ones loved it, and even the 5-6 year olds did a great job.

Musical Pipes has a ton of free music available to download as well as instructions and measurements to make your own pipe chimes.

One of the features we've loved as a family is that you can set out the pipes on the holders (included in your purchase) and one person can play a song all by themselves.  My 9 year old son spent hours working on a couple of Primary songs all by himself recently.

I anticipate using this a lot for family get-togethers as well as a special treat in my Primary every so often.
