Someone we dearly love has been through the wringer lately, enduring cancer treatments. He and his wife are facing a trial I can't comprehend. As someone watching from the outside, it's difficult to know what to do to help. We think of them often. We pray, we send positive thoughts their way. We bring food in an attempt to lighten their burden.
I wanted to show them how often we're thinking of them and praying for them, so this little quilt was born. I solicited help from our family, who traced their hands and sent the tracings to me. I appliqued the handprints onto the quilt, and obviously I was drawn to bright cheerful fabrics for this project.
“The most beautiful people I've known are those who have known trials, have known struggles, have known loss, and have found their way out of the depths.”
--Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
