It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Our house has been full of Christmas activity lately:
Christmas concerts, movies and music.
Gift-making, both together and in secret.
Stacks of Christmas books read.
Letters sent and received.
Opportunities to help those around us.

{embroidery by Ellie}

Ellie placed several surprise packages under the tree as soon as it was up.  She quickly gave in to Ethan's relentless begging and allowed him to open his handmade gift early. She made--entirely on her own--a coloring book of safari animals.  He was thrilled and promptly set about coloring them all.

{one of our favorite traditions: hand decorated wrapping paper}

Ethan has been our lead wrapping paper artist this year.  If you look closely you can see his self portrait above (it's nearly covered by the white yarn).  I adore the way he draws his "curwwy hair"!

(Yes, our matching outfits are intentional. Ellie spearheaded that project.)

I hope you are finding time to slow down and enjoy this season.
 I am ultra-aware lately of how quickly time is passing and how precious these moments are.

Speaking of precious, here's one of the most precious moments in my life right now:
singing songs at bedtime with this little guy.

"Christmas is a season for kindling the fire for hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart."
--Washington Irving
