Names of Christ Advent {and a printable for you!}

I am always looking for ways to focus more on Christ at this time of year.  It is easy, especially for children, to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, the buying and giving, and the anticipation of getting and put less emphasis on our Savior.

In an effort to be intentional in our celebration and keep the true meaning of the season in our hearts this year, I came up with a new easy-to-put-together advent activity.  I am super excited to start this tomorrow!

Names of Christ Advent

Supplies:
* Metallic Sharpie (found at any craft/ office supply store)
* 24 colored ornaments (ours came from the dollar store; they are surprisingly nice!)
* Names of Christ printable (available below)

Optional:
* Cellophane bags
* blank index cards, labeled with the numbers 1-24

Directions:
Using the metallic sharpie I wrote 24 different names for Christ, and a scripture reference using each name, on beautiful red ornaments.

I tied a string on each ornament and placed each one into a separate bag with a festive silver twist-tie to keep it closed.  But you could simplify and put them all into a basket and pick one at random each day.

How to use:
Gather as a family each evening leading up to Christmas to open a bag,  read the scripture reference and learn about our Savior.

Our children will take turns hanging the ornaments on the tree, and we'll (hopefully!) draw closer to each other and to Jesus Christ.

I'd love to hear how this works for your family!

Merry Christmas!

ps: This doesn't have to be a 24 day activity.  You could do 12 days or the week before Christmas and it would be just as meaningful!

    1. Erin, I'm so sorry for the trouble! Something went wrong on my end, but I've changed the settings and I'm hoping I've fixed it now. Please try downloading it again using the Scribd document above. Hopefully it will work this time. And please let me know if it doesn't :)
