We took a walk around the beautiful Logan LDS Temple a couple of weeks ago. We have been soaking up every possible moment of the gorgeous fall sunshine in preparation for the long Cache Valley winter (I'm nervous!). I think almost every day of a quote I read recently:

"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air."
Nathaniel Hawthorne

Our walks lately have been full of leaf collecting, throwing, crunching and stomping.

Ellie wrote this poem earlier in the season, it sums up my feelings exactly:

My Favorite Season
by Ellie Hillman

Leaves are yellow, red and green
Pumpkin seeds are yummy, yummy
Halloween is full of candy
Apple cider hits the spot
Chilly chilly all the while
Fall is my favorite time of all!

I have loved seeing these two form a stronger bond as we've gone through this major change as a family. Our move and job change has been difficult, busy and stressful. But we have grown closer as a family and have been extremely blessed through it all.

(Notice that Ellie has a leaf on her head in this photo. I'm not sure if she knew it was there or not. I just saw it when I cropped the picture. Something about the look on Ethan's face makes me think he put it there...)

  1. Heidi, I love that quote. It is so true. (We kinda skipped autumn up here... but that's alright.) I also love your kiddies. Ellie promised she'd dance for me next time I see her. Such a sweet girl. I miss you guys so much!

  2. I love Nathaniel Hawthorne! That's a great quote and a super cute family.
