Toothless Wonder

One of Ellie's favorite book series lately is Junie B. Jones (and truthfully Jason and I love them, too. Junie B. is hilarious.) Ellie recently picked up Junie B. First Grader, Toothless Wonder from the library and read it just in baby lost her first tooth!

This tooth has been literally hanging by a thread for days (see video below). On Tuesday evening we were all sitting together on the living room floor clapping and chanting "Don't go to sleep!" at Baby. We were trying to keep him awake a bit later in the hopes that I'd get a little more sleep that night. As we were clapping, Ellie accidentally hit her mouth. Her eyes went wide and she quickly spit something into her hand. It took her a few moments to recognize what it was and then she was ecstatic. She'd been terrified of losing that tooth, and I was so happy that it was not a big deal (and completely painless!) when it fell out.

Because I was taking pictures of Ellie, Ethan felt the need to join in. Every time Ellie had us wiggle her loose tooth, Ethan would want us to wiggle his teeth too. I love how much he adores his sister, and I'm grateful we've got a while before he'll be losing teeth.

And the kids wanted a group shot.

I got this video the morning she lost her tooth. I'm so glad I didn't decide to put it off, or this fantastic trick would not be recorded for posterity.

Congratulations on the lost tooth.
Ellie J. Hillman, Toothless Wonder!
