Island Park

We spent a long weekend at Island Park (near Yellowstone) with the Hillmans. It was a fantastic vacation; very laid-back with plenty of time to catch up after our time away. We spent a couple of days in Yellowstone where we saw Old Faithful,

went on a few short hikes and enjoyed the beauty of the area.

This is one of my all-time favorite views. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is simply amazing.

Grandma and Grandpa Hillman treated us all to ice cream one hot afternoon. Ethan found the perfect place to enjoy it: right in front of a fan. He happily slurped his cone and followed the fan as it rotated back and forth.

Scott and Darcy. I cannot get enough of her grin!

The kids enjoyed plenty of cousin time:

Jack and Ethan couldn't turn around long enough for a picture, they were much too busy throwing rocks!

Jack, Ellie and Jane doing their bear impressions.

Silly cousins on the hike to Mesa Falls.

We were all thrilled to watch Ellie and Jane run around together (happily!) during a sudden rainstorm that kept us from our campfire. When these girls are happy together (which is getting to be more and more often lately, yay!) they are SO fun!

I loved listening to the conversations and singing that went on in the back of our car when these three rode together. Funny kids!

Ellie and Darcy.

It was such a nice weekend! A nice way to transition between hotel life and being real people again. My favorite part was visiting with the other adults after the kids went to bed. We rarely have uninterrupted time to talk, and it was such a treat to be able to have a full conversation without needing to wipe sticky hands, change a diaper, feed a baby or put someone in time-out!

Thanks for a wonderful time!

  1. What a fun and busy summer you've had. Extended family trips are the best! And such a beautiful location, too. Watching your kids spend time with their cousins is just priceless (especially when they all get along.)
