Niagara Falls

We went to Niagara Falls on Saturday with our friends the Vargheses. It was an overcast and rainy day but we ended up getting more wet from the falls than the rain. Especially me; twice during the day I was drenched by a random wave.

Here's my cute hubby in one of the many ponchos he wore on Saturday. I'd be very interested to see how many ponchos are used each day at Niagara Falls. We got 3 each throughout the day.

Our boys: Ethan and Jason with Matthew and Philip Varghese on the Maid of the Mist.

Our first order of business was to ride the Maid of the Mist. It was incredible to be so close to the falls! According to the guide, enough water flows over the falls to fill 1 million bathtubs every minute. That's hard for me to fathom but being right up close and getting soaked by the mist helped make it seem more real.

We went on the White Water Walk and saw some of the most dangerous white water rapids in the world. We were fascinated by the stories of crazy people that tried to swim, boat and walk a tightrope across this river. Nuts!

Ellie decided not to join us for this family picture. She was really upset by the big wave that had just come up over the guard rail and soaked me.

Love those big brown eyes!

It's hard to see where the falls end and the sky starts since it was so overcast, but this is a picture of Horseshoe Falls (on the Canadian side of the border) from the side.

After all the rain and splashing water, Ethan's hair was curlier than ever. I love his hair in this humid weather! I'm interested to see what it's like when we get back to dry Utah.

Ellie got to pick the spot for our family picture. Niagara Falls are nowhere in sight (they are to the left of us in the photo) but at least Ellie is participating!

It was a really fun day and especially so because we got to spend it with friends.

  1. Wow awesome. I went to Niagra Falls once when I was 15, but I would love to go back. Oh my goodness. Ethan looks so big. What a cute family.

  2. I love Niagara Falls! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun.
