Pretending

Ellie is still very in to pretending. This is a conversation we had while cleaning up breakfast earlier this week:

Ellie: Mom, do you want to pretend something?
Me: Sure. What should we pretend?
Ellie: You be me and I'll be you.
Me: Okay.
Ellie: You ask me if we can get a cat.
Me: (impersonating Ellie's voice) Mommy! I want a cat! Can we get a cat?
Ellie: (patiently) No, sweetie. Mommy is allergic.
Me: Please, Mommy! I'll take good care of it. Please, please, please, please, please, can we get a cat? Please, Mom... please, please....
Ellie: (laughing)No, I'm sorry. We just can't.
Me: (impersonating Ellie's begging) Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please...etc.
(you know how if you type/write one word over and over it looks really weird? " Please" is doing that to me right now. )

Ellie: (Exasperated) Okay! In an hour!

In retrospect, I hope I didn't teach her something I'll regret. Begging does not equal a cat!

  1. Hi Heidi! Time has been a blur these past 5 months and I have been far from organized and on top of things. I didn't even notice you went private and stopped popping up in my google reader. I'm 4 months behind in reading your posts- I'm so sorry!

It's been fun to catch up and see so many fun posts.
