Sunday Dinner

Once a month we get together for dinner at my parent's house. This is one of my all-time favorite family traditions. We love the time together visiting, laughing and catching up with each other's lives.

But I have to be honest, a lot of the reason I love it is also because of the food. You can't see it well but the plaque above the door says "Come gather around our table". That fits my parents very well and seems to be their unofficial motto. My dad is amazing and generally goes all out for these occasions. Usually we are celebrating at least one birthday, and the birthday boy or girl gets to pick the menu. Last month was my turn. My only requirement was "something Italian". Dad is good with unspecific directions like that.

Yes, the platter really is that big.

We haven't decided on a name for this creation. But it's something like "Flattened Chicken Wrapped in Bacon With a Creamy Mushroom Sauce". The menu also included pasta, "Carrots Boiled in Butter" (they aren't really, but they taste like it) and focaccia bread with bell peppers on top. Delicious!

Ethan and "Grandpa Great" Kimball

We finished off the evening with my mom's incredible carrot cake. I could eat this every meal for 3 days straight and not be sad.

Thanks for another to-die-for dinner, mom and dad. I think we might "accidentally" show up again next Sunday like my sister Kristi. "What? It's not the 4th Sunday? Oh well...what's for dinner?"
