Happy "Noon" Year!

As most of you know, our family goes to bed pretty early. The kids are in bed by 7 and I start to shut down around 9pm. It's hard for us to celebrate New Year's Eve and still be fun the next day. We found a great solution! The Living Planet Aquarium has a "Noon" Years Eve celebration every year. We went yesterday for the face-painting, cheap hot dogs, origami, prizes, the big countdown and balloon drop at 3pm, and to see the fish.

There were wall-to-wall people, they ran out of food before we got any, the balloon drop didn't go as planned and we waited in line for over an hour to get Ellie's face painted. She kept telling me (as we waited in the tortuously long line) "This is the BEST day!" She absolutely loved it!

Ellie's New Year's Eve hat and origami bird.

Ethan liked the hat, too.

The result of our LONG wait: a beautiful sparkly butterfly. Totally worth it!

Happy New Year!

Our family wishes you all the best in 2010!

  1. What a cute idea! We'll have to try that next year. -Our sleep schedule is the same as yours. :)
