Ellie's First Recital

On November 7th, we were able to attend Ellie's first violin recital. Her wonderful teacher, who also happens to be her wonderful Aunt Mindy, put it together. It was a family affair; Ellie and her cousins, Jack and Jane and their cousins performed. It was incredibly fun to watch these sweet kiddos showing off their talents.

Here is the program:

As you can see, a variety of talents were showcased. Everything from violin pieces, to artwork, to light saber demonstrations and breakdancing. It was awesome! I didn't get pictures of everyone, but here are a few:

Janie playing the violin.

I was really worried that Ellie would decide not to perform. But she jumped right up on "stage" and played her piece just like we'd practiced a million times. She was also able to show some of her art work.

Jack playing Minuet 1. He's amazing!

The recital turned out to be great motivation for Ellie, too. She watched the older kids and was inspired to see what she can do someday if she works hard. Our practice sessions have gone more smoothly and she's had more patience and been willing to practice longer than she ever has before.
Grandma and Grandpa Hillman were there, along with "The Greats" (Great Grandma and Grandpa Kimball).

Ellie even got a beautiful bouquet of flowers from The Greats.

After the talents, we had dinner and were able to visit with some of our favorite people. Thanks, Mindy! It was a wonderful evening.

  1. That is so awesome that she is learning violin. That is great. I haven't been able to find anyone to teach music to my kids until they are 7.
