The Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch with our good friends last week. Ellie and Nico were born just 2 weeks apart and have very similar temperaments. This is extremely fun when it's fun and a bit difficult when it's not. At one point the girls had been playing quietly in Ellie's room for quite a while and Ellie came running out suddenly. She wrapped Jason in a huge hug and whispered in his ear, "I just found out that Nico likes to pretend!". She was grinning from ear to ear with the news and immediately ran back in to continue playing. I have been so happy lately to see that Ellie is learning to better control her emotions (which fluctuate wildly) and is playing and compromising better with other kids. It's only taken 5 years of constant effort to get to this point...

One of Ethan's new favorite tricks is to not look at me when I'm taking his picture. I freely admit that I take a lot of photos and I can see how me constantly calling out, "Peanut! Look at Mama!" and other such phrases could get annoying, but I really don't like the new trick. As you can see in the picture, he thinks it's hilarious. The stinker.

Ellie and Nico. (This was right before Ellie decided to climb on the hay pile and fell into a hole. She was literally up to her chin in hay, with her hands straight up in the air. I was laughing too hard to help. Thanks, Becky, for getting her out.)

At least you can see those beautiful brown eyes this time.
