Grotto hike

My cute sister and her darling boys invited us for Nature Day last week. First we had to stop at their house and hold a duckling and feed some cows (I said "we" but of course I meant Ellie).

After visiting the animals, we headed up Payson Cayon to what my sister has aptly dubbed "the perfect 4 year-old hike". It's about 1/2 mile long and has small bridges over a little stream and ends in this perfect play area.

On the way up the trail, Ellie instisted on crossing the bridges this way. She was sure she was going to fall into the 3 inch deep water if she walked across. On the way down she was a little more brave.
Ellie and Cougar threw rocks in the water and Ethan and Phoenix enjoyed watching from their backpacks. We did get them out and dipped their toes in the water, but they did not enjoy it. It was COLD!

This is the picture Ellie drew on the way home. So cute!
