Ellie and Jason finished building their rocket this week. Guess who picked the paint color? We've been waiting for several days for the conditions to be right so we could launch it. It has been very cold, snowy, and extremely windy lately. It was still that way today, but we couldn't wait any longer.

We met Jeff and Mindy and their cute kids at a park near our house. Jason and Jeff set up the launch pad and lit the fuse...

Blast off! (Ellie has been practicing counting down all week, but we forgot to do it today.)

It appeared that the parachute wasn't going to come out, but eventually it did. The guys figured out the wind speed and trajectory so well that the rocket came pretty much right back to us. After a graceful (read: not-so-graceful) leaping catch, Jason brought it back to us.

Success! This is my new favorite picture of Jason and Jeff. Bonus points if you know who's who.

It was too cold and windy outside for our cute Peanut, so he took a nap in the car. (This is before he fell asleep.) In case you were wondering, those cheeks get hundreds of kisses daily.

  1. Looks like a lot of fun. I am guessing Jason is on the left.

  2. I'm so glad you got to do this finally. I've always known that Jason is a closet purple lover, so you can't blame it on your 4yr old. It's really you that gets the bonus points for knowing the difference between the two.
