Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Ellie and I celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday yesterday. We had Green Eggs and Ham (and strawberries) for breakfast:

We read every Dr. Seuss book that we own (this took almost exactly an hour, and it was WONDERFUL!):

We made a "Cat in the Hat" hat:

And had a Dr. Seuss themed Muffin Tin lunch.

Hot Dog--Green Eggs and Ham: Representing the ham
Goldfish--The Cat in the Hat/One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
Carrots--The Tooth Book: "And NEVER bite a dentist when he works inside your head. Your dentist is your teeth's best friend. Bite carrot sticks instead."
Dried cherries--Oh the Thinks You Can Think: "Schlopp, schlopp, beautiful schlopp. Beautiful schlopp with a cherry on top"
Pretzel "Nest" with a grape tomato "egg"--Horton Hatches the Egg: This is supposed to be like the nest Horton sat on for 51 weeks.

It was a very fun and low-key day. And a great way to remember a person who had such an impact on children's literature.

Completely changing the subject, today was Peanut's 4 month check up.

He weighs 13 lbs 15 oz and is 23.5 inches long. He has gained exactly 4 lbs. in 2 months! (That's 3oth percentile for weight and about 25th for height. Way up from 5th percentile last time!)

Way to go Peanut!

ps-- Does anyone else LOVE coupons? After rebates, coupons, etc. I got all this for $2.10 today. Yay!

  3. Way to go Peanut! Starting to catch up to my little munchkin.
Love the Dr. Suess. Last year I said..."we are going to celebrate it next year and I forgot." I guess we have been too busy being sick.
I missed the stake thing talking about couponing, but I am starting to learn. Awesome.
